Eduard Chelariu set to impress, coming at Petje with a big surprise

Romania’s Eduard Chelariu (8-3, FFC 0-0) is one of the latest additions to the FFC roster and he will make his promotional debut this Saturday at FFC 30 in Linz. Chelariu will lock horns with FFC’s two-division champion Samo Petje in a non-title super fight.

Despite the fact that this will be Chelariu’s FFC debut, this young KO artist dubbed ‘Little Tyson’ already has 11 professional bouts under his belt as well as 8 wins. Not to mention that he polished his skills in SuperKombat.

‘FFC it’s one of the most powerful promotions in Europe and it’s an honor for me to fight in this promotion,’ said Chelariu. ‘I wanted to fight in the FFC. I want to impress everybody and I want to fight more matches in this promotion after this.’

Chelariu also explained how he ended up in professional fights.

‘I was primarily a wrestler for some three years and then I started to fight on streets. And I liked it. This is the reason I am in the ring now. When I stepped into the gym for the first time it was love at first sight.’

At FFC 30 Chelariu is set to fight FFC’s first two-division champ Samo Petje (32-6-1, FFC 10-2). Petje will fight in the same arena where he made his comeback after devastating KO loss to Meletis Kakoubavas when he lost his title. And he never lost again. In the meantime, he retaliated in a rematch in Athens this year and after that he challenged then FFC welterweight champion Eyevan Danenberg, managed to defeat him and became the owner of two belts.

‘I know he is a talented fighter and a superstar in the FFC. But I will take his place. I’m coming there to fight, I’m not running away. I like to make a lot of changes. I am a surprise. And he will have an unpleasant surprise,’ said Chelariu who claims that he is constantly striving to better even when he is not in the ring. ‘My nickname is ‘Little Tyson’ and people gave me that nickname after I KO’ed Mustapha el Messaoudi. Nobody expected that.’

Chelariu is currently finishing his FFC 30 preps and training at Sharks Gym in Constanta under the guidance of his coach Daniel Asaftei, RXF MMA champion Catalin Casaru and SuperKombat colleague Alex Filip.
