CFFA nullifies the result of Mijatovic vs Lukacic fight, declares it "No Contest"

Croatian Free Fighting Association's Commission for Professional MMA met on Wednesday to discuss a complaint submitted to the Federation by the Bandog club from Zadar, relating to the controversial outcome of the Lukacic vs. Mijatovic bout held on May 10 at the FFC's fourth event.

As a reminder, referee Zlatko Klaric stopped the fight at one point upon deciding that Mijatovic verbally submitted due to an armbar, only to let the bout continue after the incident. After consulting with the ringside officials, the fight was continued in the middle of the ring from the same controversial situation which Mijatovic this time managed to get out of. The judges decided that Mijatovic was the winner on points to the general dissatisfaction of Lukacic, his corner and the crowd.

According to the Commission's decision, the outcome of the fight, i.e. Mijatovic's win, is nullified and the fight is declared "No Contest". The FFC management offered both fighters a rematch immediately after the controversial bout. As learned by Fight Site, the FFC will respect the Commission's and Federation's decision and the Lukacic vs Mijatovic fight will go down in the official records as "No Contest".

We are publishing the full communication by the Croatian Free Fighting Federation:

"At the meeting of the Commission for Professional MMA of the Croatian Free Fighting Association, consisting of:
1. Orsat Zovko / Chairman,
2. Zelg Galesic / Member,
3. Zeljko Banic / Member,

and having discussed a complaint by the Zadar-based MMA club Bandon in relation to the outcome of the fight between Marko Lukacic and Antonio Mijatovic at the FFC04 event in Zadar on May 10, the Commission adopted the following conclusion:
The outcome of the Lukacic vs. Mijatovic fight is nullified and the result of the fight shall be recorded as 'No Contest'.

The Commission's decision is based on the following arguments:

1. The referee Zlatko Klaric committed an error by stopping the fight, and then letting it continue after consultations with the ringside officials. Similar errors will be avoided in the future by adopting stricter and better defined rules.

2. During the incident, both fighters' corners failed to behave in accordance with the rules of sporting and fair behavior as prescribe by the rules and contractual obligations of fighters participating at the FFC events.
New regulation of the behavior of fighters and their attendants during fights will be applied already as of the next FFC event, of which the teams will be notified ahead of the event itself."
