Last Friday FFC got a new heavyweight champ in MMA. After 15 minutes of action, 24 year old Darko Stošić dethroned Dion Staring and reached 9th win in his career, that is, his fifth win in the FFC.

Stošić won via majority decision and took the belt from the Dutch veteran who does not agree with the judges. However, the fresh champion from Serbia shared his impressions.

“I feel completed and excellent. All the efforts paid off as well as everything I invested in myself. I listened to my corner’s directions, I followed the game plan and everything worked out just fine. Now I will take some ten days’ break and then I will go back to the gym. I will probably defend my belt soon.”

On his match and FFC 26 in Linz

“I think I delivered a match that the audience enjoyed. Three rounds with excellent fighters. The whole organization was excellent as usual.”

On judges’ decision and Staring’s reaction

“The loser has right to be angry. The first round was definitely mine and he did not expect it! I won the second round as well. I had some good take downs and positions. I also hit him good a couple of times in stand-up. We both got tired in the third round and he could not catch up with me anymore. He had full mount but I managed to get out of it. That was his only chance. And even if he won the third round, I’m still the winner.“

Staring did not surprise him at all

“I never underestimated him so he could not surprise me. I took this match very seriously!“

What now?

“I will fight any opponent they give me. I am the champ and my duty is to defend the belt. I heard Staring wants a rematch, but it’s up to FFC. I’m here, I’m not going anywhere,” concluded Stošić.
