Milinkovic reveals: Now I know why I was in such a bad shape, it will not happen again!

Video of Ruben Wolf’s KO in the match against Sasa Milinkovic travelled around the world in merely a couple of days. Although it looked quite bad, this “soccer kick” that put the Croatian fighter to sleep became a real hit among all Pride fans. Luckily, Milinkovic feels great and there are no consequences. He decided to take a break for some twenty days and then score some new victories.

In an interview with Fight Site he explained the drop in his energy after the first round.

“Now it’s definitely clear why I went down in Zadar at FFC13. I can say without any doubt that I had an allergy reaction which is the reason why I could not breathe. I feel bad about losing because of something I could not control. I did not want to accept the fact that I was not well in the second round, but I was barely standing on my feet”, said Milinkovic disappointedly.

However, the Croatian fighter also blames himself and his team.

“This doesn’t mean that other things were done impeccably. I learned a lot, and maybe the most important lesson was the one that I shouldn’t rely on my feeling when it comes to strength and conditioning. After the match in Osijek we thought I was in good shape and that was a big mistake. We were afraid I would train too much, but it turned out I was completely out of shape for this match. In the future, we will see more into it, we will measure lactates and other things in blood to be sure what shape I’m in.”

This was Sasa’s first KO ever. He says it looked worse than it actually was.

“When it comes to that KO, I do not feel any consequences at all. I am lucky he hit me with his feet and somewhat amortized the kick that felt more like a slap. I was lucky he did not hit me with his shin”, said Milinkovic.

And when it comes to his plans for the future…

“I learned a lot from that match. Now I am smarter and I will start to prepare for the next match. I will take some 20-days break and dedicate myself to some other things I neglected while preparing for the match. And then I will go back in the gym”, concluded Milinkovic.
