Manuel Bilic ahead of FFC 19: ’I never delivered a boring fight!’

Manuel Bilic is one of the fighters who will get a new shot at the upcoming FFC event that is going to take place in his hometown of Linz. Ahead of his new bout, he revealed his expectations from his second FFC match as well as some details about his Sherdog score many wondered about.

Young and very talented Manule Bilic delivered a brilliant performance at his FFC debut when he defeated Dragan Pesic whom he took by surprise in the end. It was one of the most dynamic and bloodiest fights in the FFC history. Ahead of his second FFC match, Bilic revealed more details to Fight Site.

It has been nine months since your FFC debut. As a newcomer and an outsider you fought Dragan Pesic and scored a fantastic victory, one of the best in the history of this promotion. What can you tell us about this match and your opponent both as fighter and person?

I've always been an outsider, but I like that. I will always try to deliver a good fight. That's what I live for and that is my style. Pesic is a good guy and I personally have nothing against him. He loves this sport like I do and we share the same interests. He is not a bad fighter, but like everybody, he has his advantages as well as flaws.

You had issues with your Sherdog score according to which you have two wins and three losses, but the reality is quite different. Please, explain.

Yes, my score on Sherdog is not real. I signed with the FFC with the score of five wins and two losses. But my former coach contacted them and they deleted all my wins and put two as amateur fights. It was all with the purpose to tarnish my reputation. Everybody knows that and no one can help me. Lemmy Krusic has been with me the whole time during my career and he can tell you that what I say is true.

When it comes to this new match, can we expect non-stop action and uncompromising style again? It was obvious you can take a punch with no problem. Do you plan to pay more attention to tactics now and calculate more?

Everybody will tell you I never delivered a bad performance and it will stay like that. My fights have always been interesting, mostly because I do not fear to take a punch. I always have a game plan, but sometimes things go different way and then you just have to fight with your heard and see who is going to better and stronger in the end.

After FFC in Vienna you had two matches. One you won and lost the other. Can you tell us more about these fights? What was the reason you lost and what did you learn from it?

I took this BAMMA match only nine days before the event when Regis' opponent cancelled. Maybe I should not have accepted it, but there is always a reason for everything. I took the other match to redeem myself and I managed to do it. That's all I can say about it.

You fought for BAMMA which is the biggest British promotion after Cage Warriors. What were your impressions when it comes to this organization?

BAMMA is a great organization and I am sure I will fight for them again since I also got a new contract. I have only the best words for them.

Risto Dimitrov will be your next opponent. Did you see his match against George Vardis at FFC? If you did, what do you think about it?

I've seen the match and I think he did not deserve to win. That's all I can say about it and that's only my personal opinion.

In comparison to Dimitrov, what are your advantages?

My advantage is definitely my experience. I have 12 K-1 matches under my belt as well as 10 MMA fights which is definitely an advantage. And besides, I fight in front of my hometown audience.

Austria's Gym23 is getting better and better as a team and many FFC fighters go there to training camp. But you still train in Linz. Tell us more about preps in Linz and your team.

I would like to do my camp there too, but it is not possible financially. I live and work in Linz which is 170 km away from Vienna. I would need sponsors that would cover the costs. But I have to admit I am completely satisfied with my team, Boxing MMA Linz.

This time you will fight in front of your hometown audience and your friends. Do you expect a lot of your friends and fans will come to support you?

I cannot say anything, you will see in Linz. This is my city, people here love me and respect me. The venue will be on fire! This will be the most spectacular FFC so far.

What about your wishes and future plans? Is there a certain fighter you would like to fight? Or maybe some event you would like to fight at?

First of all, I would like to ask Mr Orsat Zovko to help me with my Sherdog score since I worked hard for it and I fought well. But when it comes to the FFC, I am a bantamweight fighter and I would like them to inaugurate that division where I would like to get a chance to fight for the title. I am still young and I still have time to improve. I only wish to stay in the FFC for a longer period of time and get a couple of more fights there.
