FFC 30 MMA results: Satoshi Ishii wins via submission, Pejić defends his title!

FFC 30 that took place this Saturday at TipsArena in Linz featured MMA main event with Satoshi Ishii who scored an impressive win in his FFC debut. FFC featherweight champion Filip Pejić successfully defended his title via TKO and no match went the distance.

Satoshi Ishii def. Bjoern Schmiedeberg – submission (kimura), Round 1

Japanese fighting sports star and Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipović’s protégé Satoshi Ishii fought in the main event of the FFC 30 MMA card and impressively defeated Superior FC heavyweight champion Bjoern Schmiederberg. The winner of the Olympic gold medal in judo demonstrated his elite skills by taking down his opponent and finishing him via kimura. Ishii celebrated his FFC promotional debut and win in the ring with legendary ‘Cro Cop’ who has been his coach for the last couple of months. Having in mind his status and reputation, the Japanese fighter will fight for the FFC heavyweight title in his next bout.

Filip Pejić def. Fabiano Silva – TKO, Round 2

In the MMA co-main event, Croatia’s MMA prospect and former UFC fighter Filip Pejić defended his featherweight belt via dominant win over more experienced opponent, Brazil’s Fabiano Silva. Pejić lost the first round but then made a comeback and completely dominated in the second. After testing each other in the first minutes that somewhat lacked action, Pejić ends up on his back but manages to fight off BJJ black belt Fabiano Silva. At the beginning of the second round ‘Nitro’ ends up on top which was the beginning of the end for Silva. Pejić completely controlled his opponent and punished him with GNP until referee Grant Waterman decided to stop the match.

Ivan Vitasović def. Masoud Ranjbar – TKO, Round 2

Croatia’s heavyweight Ivan Vitasović scored his first FFC win and the biggest win of his career in general. This MMA artist fighting out of Trojan Gym in Pula ended up in a dangerous position when Ranjbar dominated him on the ground. In the last minute of the first round, referee Grant Waterman stops the action because of an illegal knee and Ranjbar loses a point on the cards. Now in stand up, Vitasović lands clear shots and knocks his opponent down. At the end of the round, Ranjbar was unable to fight back becoming an easy target for Vitasović who lands bombs until the point when referee stopped the bout.

Duško Todorović def. Alexander Poppeck – submission (RNC), Round 2 (04:53)

Duško Todorović made excellent FFC debut after defeating more experienced Alexander Poppeck from Germany. Poppeck seemed like a big threat at the beginning of the first round but he did not score big advantage. In the second round it was obvious that he is running out of breath and Todorović takes control. After GNP, Todorović gets his opponent’s back and Poppeck taps. This is Todorović’s fifth consecutive win and a proof that there is a bright future ahead of him.

Stipe Brčić def. Davor Matić – submission (heel hook), Round 1

FFC’s inaugural bantamweight division bout ended via Brčić’s blitzkrieg win. Matić bravely stepped up on one day notice after Magamed Batirov cancelled his appearance citing health issues. However, he did not get a chance to show much in the FFC ring. Brčić first landed an excellent jab on his opponent which ended in aggressive GNP and heel hook submission.

Luka Ćurković def. Selim Topuz – submission (RNC), Round 2

Luka Ćurković scored his sixth win when he defeated Selim Topuz via RNC in the second round. Superior grappling skills led this young Croatian fighter to the win. After they tested each other at the beginning of the first round, Topuz demonstrated his excellent kickboxing arsenal landing a couple of solid shots on his opponent. However, Ćurković manages to take his opponent down in the second round punishing him with ground and pound and managing to find a way to his neck to finish him via RNC.
