Only a week after FFC show in Daytona Beach, Florida, Final Fight Championship is busy preparing its next event in Springfield, MA with former UFC fighter Anthony Njokuani. This excellent puncher will have a difficult task ahead of him since he will face Brazil’s Leonardo Mafra who will also step into the FFC ring for the first time after UFC’s Octagon.

When he is not in the ring or Octagon, Njokuani is a coach at UFC Gym in Green Valley where he forges the future of new MMA and Muay Thai talents. But when he is not doing classes, this FFC newcomer is doing his preps in Las Vegas with his coaches Nick ‘One Kick’ Blomgren and Sergio Penha as well as well-known fighter Jon Fitch who will help him to show his best side in the FFC ring this Friday.

“I will go out there and do my best, I will choose the right punches, avoid mistakes and hopefully leave the ring victorious,“ said Njokuani without spending too many words on his opponent.

Njokuani heard only the best things about the FFC, and he plans to contribute with his first-class striking techniques.

“I heard about FFC from some people who told me it was a great organization for fighters and I’m actually really thankful I got a chance to fight for this promotion. I will bring what I usually bring into the ring, which is a high-profile fight, a lot of first class striking techniques, excellent Muay Thai and a great show, of course. I’d like to say to FFC fans to get ready to an exciting fight.”

FFC might me his ticket back to kickboxing

Some years ago Anthony also fought in kickboxing matches and he did some of his last matches at World Combat League, a promotion founded by Chuck Norris. Njokuani has never been defeated in their ring. Moreover, he hopes those were not his final kickboxing matches and he sees FFC as a potential ticket back.

“I hope it happens someday. I’d like to be asked to fight in a kickboxing match.”

MMA in the ring will not be a problem for him

“Back in 2003 I already fought in the ring against Lee King. It was actually one of my first fights. I will not have a problem adapting to the ring since I train in the ring.”

An impressive list of opponents

“During my career I fought many tough opponents like Rafael Dos Anjos, Edson Barboza… The list is really long. It is hard to say who my toughest opponent was. It is not easy to pick among so many big names,” said Njokuani and some of the names he did not mention include Donald Cerrone, Benson Henderson, John Makdessi, Danny Castillo and many others.

Two matches he will never forget

“I will never forget ‘head kick’ when I defeated Chris Horodecki while he was running from me as well as Roger Bowling KO at UFC.”

Who is Anthony outside of the ring?

“Outside of the ring I’m teacher Anthony. I train people in the UFC Gym. I am happy, I’m fun and adventurous kinda person. I teach Muay Thai and MMA. Teaching and fighting is my way of life. When I see how people develop in what I teach them, it brings smile to my face and that’s what I like the most.”
