Zovko: Daley will make his debut against Fabjan, Cro Cop will attend FFC in Skopje!

The signature of the contract with Paul Daley is certainly news that calls for an interview with the FFC boss Orsat Zovko. Final Fight has once again proven its huge ambitions, and Zovko has also revealed to us plans of his organization for 2014.

"We've already planned out the entire next season and we'll have eight events – four in the first, four in the second part of the year. With regard to today's announcement of signing Paul Daley, I can confirm that Daley will make his debut in April at the event in Ljubljana. He will headline the event alongside the best Slovenian kickboxing fighter – Miran "Rocky" Fabjan," Zovko revealed, adding:

"This summer we were already in negotiations with Paul, but we couldn't come to terms regarding some details. I'm glad that we've been more successful now and that Daley will represent the FFC. I think this acquisition is a perfect hit."

Are you afraid of the "dark side" of the British fighter's personality?
"I'm familiar with Paul Daley's mentality, but I don't believe we'll have any problems. We saw each other in Moscow at the Legend event and we talked a lot there. We have communicated by phone even further, and my impression is that Daley has got the grasp of the significance and quality of the FFC. He is aware that we will work in his interest and on getting him back in one of the world's top organizations."

Can you reveal some other details about the upcoming FFC season?
"So far we've defined lots of things, and I've already said that we'll have four events in the first and four in the second part of the year. There are four FFC Futures events planned, which we will do in cooperation with the Croatian Kickboxing Federation and the Croatian Free Fighting Association. At this point there are three Croatian cities in play and we're weighing the options to see which suits us best. These Futures should by method of elimination yield young fighters who will get their chance at the FFC."

What about the event that was supposed to be held in Sarajevo?
"The FFC that should have taken place in Sarajevo and which we postponed due to Dzevad Poturak's injury will definitely take place on February 7. However, we are still not sure in which city of Bosnia and Herzegovina it will be, because three destinations are in play there as well. As soon as we get back from Skopje, we will announce the exact place and the entire fight card."

How are the preparations for Skopje going?
"The preparations are actually complete, and this time even our advertising campaign started on time because we had enough time to prepare. So far, Macedonia has been a very pleasant surprise as the reactions from the local public are more positive and better than we had expected. I believe that it will be a sell-out. I'm glad that some Macedonian fighters have also got the opportunity and this will be a great test for them. Some of them, like Kajmakoski, we already have future plans for, and these don't depend on the result in Skopje. However, we will measure the potential of other Macedonian fighters to see if we could use them in the future."

Ricco Rodriguez arrived in Zagreb yesterday to prepare with Mirko Filipovic for his fight in Skopje. How did the first training go?
"Everything went great, and Ricco was delighted to train with Mirko. I have to mention right away that Cro Cop was more than fair and that he said at the start of the session that he would completely adapt to Ricco considering his match in Skopje. Filipovic was only doing what Rodriguez needed. In the end, Ricco was delighted with everything. He said: "What if I trained like this every day? Only the sky would be the limit."

What next?
"There's another training in the evening today, and what's great is that Cro Cop will come to Skopje to support Ricco, and maybe he'll even be in his corner."
