Zivkovic to step up for Fabjan at FFC 19 Linz: ’You can’t turn down an offer from FFC’

September 10th, 2015

One of the best Serbian kickboxers Stevan Zivkovic was supposed to be fighting at the prestigious GFC event (Global Fight Championship) in Dubai, scheduled for Sept. 18, but the whole event was canceled a few days ago, as already reported by the Fight Site. Because of his excellent reputation that he partially gained at FFC as well, his attractive matches and numerous fans in the region, Final Fight Championship offered him to step up instead of Miran Fabjan at FFC 19 that is to take place next Friday in Linz, Austria. Since he already did his preps for the match in the UAE, Zivkovic is in excellent shape and he accepted the challenge.

The Serbian fighter will fight Austria's Henry Bannert in the co-main event of the kickboxing part of the spectacle instead of Miran Fabjan who sustained a knee injury during sparring.

"I trained hard for Dubai. It was hard for me when I heard that the GFC was canceled. I contacted Marko Petrak, the FFC match maker, and asked whether there was a chance to get in on their next event. After a few days he answered me that, unfortunately, Miran Fabian sustained an injury and asked me to replace him. When you get a chance to compete at such a serious organization like the FFC, you don't refuse that offer“, said Zivkovic for Fight Site.

His next opponent at FFC 19 will be Austria's Henry Bannert.

"Henry is a very good fighter. I was sparring with him in the course of my preparations that I did in Vienna. I was to fight at -78kg and this is a -85 match. So my opponent will be stronger and tougher. Henry is physically stronger than me, but I think I have a chance against him and I think I will win this match in Linz.”

Zivkovic already fought against Slovenia's Miran Fabjan that he is now about to replace. There have been speculations about the rematch for quite some time now and Stevan told us more about his big rival.

“Since Miran Fabjan is my idol, I will have to justify taking his position in this match. When I first fought at FFC I also stepped up as a replacement and I won in the end“, concluded zivkovic.
