“What can I tell you, you know? I was ready for the war, I trained long and hard and I had a good strategy on which I have to thank my coach Stuart. I set my eyes on that belt and this is my prize at the end of this year“, said Dion Staring after his 41th professional match that brought him FFC heavyweight title.

Staring was also surprised Rodriguez did not want to go to the 3rd round and revealed his opponent told him he had double vision after a knee kick Dion landed on him during the match. However, The Soldier was not bothered by the reasons…

“I wanted to finish Ricco a couple of times, but he is smart and he was ready for that. I was not able to knock him out. Ricco will get you in 'submission' in no time and I had to be careful. That was my strategy. We did not want to take a risk”, added the new FFC champion who now has four consecutive victories.

“Yes, that’s true. I have four consecutive victories and four stoppages. I won all the matches before the 3rd round was over. I’ve been through big crisis, I had some losses and I was unsure whether I want to continue my career. I received an invitation from the FFC and I said I would prepare better than ever and the results are visible. It all started with Ante Delija, and then Simonic. I scored one KO outside the FFC ring in the meanwhile and now Rodriguez walked away. I want to thank the FFC for the opportunity.”

Dion already defeated Ante Delija, but there are already rumors he might fight him again in an upcoming match in which he is to defend the title. Another possible title candidate could also be Delija’s colleague Maro Perak. Staring does not mind, he claims he is in good shape and that he would fight anyone. However, first he celebrated the hard won belt.
